Samples & Swag

Why do we require vendors/sponsors to provide samples of food?

Offering samples of food can significantly increase the chances of selling it. Providing samples allows potential customers to experience the taste and quality of your food firsthand. It helps create a positive and memorable impression, potentially leading to higher customer satisfaction and increased sales. Sampling is an effective marketing strategy, especially in the food industry, as it engages customers' senses and encourages them to make informed purchasing decisions. 

Plus, it add an element of fun to the event!

What are the samples/swag requirements?

  • All food vendors are required to provide samples
    • 750+ samples per day
    • Napkins, plates, etc are NOT provided by the event
    • Pre-packaged samples are encouraged
    • Open samples require a handwash station in your vendor space
    • Shasta County Environmental Health requires a registration or permit depending on the vendor/product/sample type
  • Non-food vendors are encouraged to provide swag
    • ie. sticker, pen, individually-wrapped candy, etc
  • Cottage Food Operation vendors with food samples prepared and packaged in advance must keep the packages sealed until the customer opens it. The vendors with pre-packaged, shelf-stable samples must register with Shasta County Environmental Health.
  • Food vendors with open products/samples must acquire a permit from Shasta County Environmental Health.
  • Food samples are NOT full servings! Just give the potential customers a taste to see what your products are like. 
    • ie. a half gram of chocolate, one freeze-dried Skittle, a tiny spoonful of ganache, a small cube of cheese, a sample cup with cake scrap, etc
  • Waste bins will be stationed at each vendor space.
  • Earn a $20 discount on vendor space, a complimentary General Admission ticket, priority vendor space placement, increased exposure and exclusive visibility by participating in the VIP Special Tasting!
